The layout editor allows selection of puzzle widths between 10 and 25 and heights between 10 and 25. There is no need for the puzzle to be square. Common layouts may have pre-built grids available that can be used as a starting point. The first entry in the rightmost dropdown will always represent a blank grid (in this case a blank 21x21 has 42 words all 21 characters long).
The layout dropdown is sorted by the number of words in the layout.
The entries in this list include the number of words followed by the count of long words in the puzzle. For example, if you had two eleven character theme entries, and two ten character theme entries, you might consider the layout labelled "Words: 76; Sizes: 11x2 10x2 8x4 7x2 6x8;"
Sparkling Fill offers three symmetry types, "Rotational", "Left-Right", and "Top-Bottom" (you can also select "None"). When one of these symmetry type is selected, matching symmetrical squares will be updated when you add or remove black squares.
If the automatically renumber checkbox is selected, the word numbers in the puzzle update automatically as the puzzle changes.
To add circles to your grid, click the below button:
Upon clicking the button, clicks inside the grid will add and remove circles rather than toggling black/white squares. Click the button again to go back to the normal editing mode.
